The Art of Amy Everhart

I am excited to announce that I have received a commission to illustrate a children’s book!  I have been working on it now for a couple of months but I can’t share anything else with you yet.  Look for more in February.

I am in the process of moving and do not have much time to paint, so I will not be updating my blog for a few months.

This scene is a commisssion for a child’s room.  I painted it on a 40 x 60 canvas rather than directly on the wall.  I love doing these this way as it adds a lot of flexibility for the decorator and is a solution to the problem of what to do with a child’s mural when he is a teenager and wants to repaint his room.

This will give you an idea of the size of the painting.

I love painting kids in watercolor.  I believe it captures their spontaneity and spirit better than any other medium.  This painting of a brother and sister was for their grandparents.  11×14 Watercolor on 300 lb Arches paper.
