With my new schedule as a homeschool teacher, personal chef, housekeeper and counselor my days have been turned upside down. Now, don’t get me wrong I am enjoying this extra time with the family. It is just different. I rarely find time for myself now. My daily painting habits have changed, but this has also given me the opportunity to finish up little projects I started years ago. This painting of Ben being one of them. I was supposed to be done in time for his graduation back in 2018. I finished most of it, but it sat unfinished while I debated with myself whether to finish it up like this or show his hands. Now with Ben being “stuck” at home 24 hours a day I often find him with both hands tucked under his arms, reminding me this is how he always stands. So, even though I think artistically it would have been a better painting if his hands were showing, it is a better representation of who Ben really is.
